Education

Education is a priority in Lawrence County with local educators striving to provide students with the best learning experience from pre-K to higher education.

The Lawrence County School District has K-12 schools in Walnut Ridge.

Hoxie School District, located in Hoxie, includes kindergarten through 12th grade.

Hillcrest School District  includes the former Lynn and River Valley Schools. Junior high and high school students attend school on the Strawberry campus, and the elementary school is located in Lynn.

Sloan-Hendrix School  is located in Imboden and serves students in kindergarten through 12th grade.

The Imboden Area Charter School, also located in Imboden, offers enrollment for kindergarten through eighth-grade students.

The county‘s educational opportunities also include Williams Baptist College, a four-year private institution located in Walnut Ridge. Other nearby colleges and universities include: Black River Technical College in Pocahontas, the University of Arkansas Community College at Batesville and Arkansas State University in Jonesboro and Newport.

The Northeast Arkansas Educational Cooperative, which serves public schools in Lawrence and surrounding counties, is located in Walnut Ridge. In addition to providing services to teachers, the co-op also has a Make & Take Center and meeting rooms that are used by the community.
