Lawrence County has a population of approximately 17,000.

Walnut Ridge, the county seat, and Hoxie adjoin and have a combined population of nearly 7,500. Both towns have been designated as Arkansas Communities of Excellence, and Walnut Ridge is a part of the Arkansas Downtown Network through its Downtown Walnut Ridge organization.
Other towns in the county include: Alicia, Black Rock, College City, Imboden, Lynn, Minturn, Portia, Powhatan, Ravenden, Sedgwick, Smithville and Strawberry.
