The reNEW East Arkansas Lawrence County steering committee recently held a meeting at the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce to discuss the county’s strategic focus, including development opportunities, future projects and grants, housing issues, recycling and the effects of Peco on various county initiatives.
Local business owner Charles Snapp said, “Seeing representatives from all communities in Lawrence County come together and work as one unit is long overdue. What is good for the county is beneficial to all communities in the county and what is beneficial to one community, is good for all residents of the county.”
Kathy Bradley of the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce added, “The steering committee meeting for Lawrence County was a very informative meeting with several issues being discussed. We had lots of sharing with good ideas. Our county is made up
of 14 incorporated towns that all have similar issues. The strategic plan, established by the committee in 2013, is a regional plan that will benefit all towns as we work together for the betterment of Lawrence County.”
The steering committee plans to meet again on Sept. 4 at 10:30 a.m. at the Lawrence County Chamber of Commerce to continue their strategic focus. All citizens of Lawrence County are invited to attend.
